What Happens in Therapy?
A Surprisingly Easy Way to Better Emotional Health.
The 3 session program is usually conducted within 2 to 3 days on a one-on-one basis.
The initial consultation is approximately 1½ hours, where the therapist will first explain a lot more about Private Subconscious Therapy and answer any questions you may have. This is followed by the first of the three ‘eyes closed sessions’, which is simply an experience of assisted “self-attention”. Sessions 2 and 3 are approximately 50 to 60 minutes each and are usually held back-to-back on the same day, ideally 1 to 2 sleeps after the first session. This is not critical however and is often suited around the clients own routine and booking availability. For people travelling from afar, the 3 sessions can all be held in one day.
PST therapists regard their program as “just one session broken into three parts,” but for the sake of simplicity the work is described as a “3-session program”.
There Is Everything You Need Within The 3 Sessions.
What Happens In The Sessions?
The whole aim of this method is to resolve the emotional CAUSE of any present and uncomfortable symptoms you may be focusing on and to help your subconscious mind learn how to respond to things in different ways than before. So don’t be surprised if your practitioner discourages you to talk about any symptoms that you may be focusing on. It is this challenging concept that makes this therapy so successful.
Unlike many other therapies, your practitioner will do most of the talking as opposed to going to a psychologist or counsellor for example. It is important to remember is that this program is much about “psycho-education” as it is about “psycho-therapy”.
In session one, you are helped to fully understand a number of very important facts; 1: Why this work is about your feelings and not your thoughts or any particular event in your life. 2; How we all have the ability to change unconscious affect (feeling or emotional) response patterns by privately re-assessing old outdated affect learnings. 3; And why you must do this in the privacy of your subconscious mind without any intervention from the practitioner, other than a skilful guidance through this inner process.
Once the client is comfortable with the different but unique concepts, session work can begin. This introduction is designed to show you how easy this is, as ‘insight mindfulness’ or ‘self-attention’ is a natural state available to us all with a little guidance.
Sessions two and three mainly involve this subconscious ‘inner re-learning work’, with no emphasis on reviving or experiencing past events. It’s a fact that we are all constantly taking on information at levels we’re not consciously aware of; just look at the effect advertising and marketing have on us at times! It doesn’t matter what you consciously think happens during these sessions, what is really important is what happens afterwards as a result of the subconscious communication and learning that took place.
Sitting in a comfortable chair, the practitioner talks to the client as the client does “nothing in particular at all”, meanwhile the subconscious re-learnings take place. Everyone relaxes in their own way and there is no particular state of relaxation that the client has to experience to achieve positive change. Some people find it hard to relax, but it doesn’t matter. Unlike many other therapies this method is a “Let it Happen” approach and NOT a “Make it Happen” approach.
So, no matter what the conscious mind is doing during session work, the clients’ subconscious mind will always be listening and receives the information in a new productive light. The spoken word from the practitioner assists the client to utilize their subconscious and its natural ability to always “search for meaning” via Trans-derivational Search, which will start to search for the problem and then go about fixing it.
